Music in the Background
Many people who look at my background and see how much music has shaped my career often ask where music fits into the picture now that I’m primarily focused on WordPress Development. I have an undergraduate degree in Music Education, taught for 6 years in various capacities, had a lot of wonderful opportunities, and even when I went for my Master’s degree in a totally different field, I continued teaching at Rockingham County High School and performing in the UNCW Wind Ensemble. In fact, most of my master’s degree I spent focused on targeting what I was learning toward the advancement of music education.
Today, music has a much quieter role in my life. I decided when I left my undergrad that my place was not in the classroom. That’s not where my heart is and I feel that’s not fair to any student I would have in that situation. Performing is something I truly enjoy, but I don’t have the time for while I’m running my own business. So, for the time being, music has taken a back burner. I’ve filled that space with a love for web development, learning about technology and code, and advancing my skills as a web developer.
